Update for September 9, 2008
GREETINGS IN JESUS MAJESTIC NAME!
Michal Ann was supposed to have a doctor's appointment today but she was too weak to make the appointment. So Kathy Colbert (our friend and one of Michal Ann's caregiver) and I went to see the oncologist together this afternoon. Things are in motion now for the next step of professional nursing to come to the home maybe three times a week. Qualified nurses will come into the home and evaluate her present condition this Wednesday and then give recommendations of where we go from here. This is not the news we were hoping for, but perhaps with good help she can regain strength and resume some form of cancer treatment.
I talked with her on Saturday afternoon and she says she still wants to fight. She wants to gain enough strength so she can have another round of treatments. She is so disoriented much of the time and yet there are moments when she is totally on top of it and present. Praise the Lord for all the good moments! We are grateful for all the good times and offer a sacrifice of praise even in the difficult ones. She is sitting next to me right now on the couch as I compose this while Smokey the cat, her constant companion, nestles up next to her.
I am to going to Charlotte this weekend to minister at Chavda's Revival Conference this Thursday through Sunday. I cancelled my trip for the following weekend in September, as I just do not have peace about leaving the country and traveling to San Jose, CA and Costa Rica at this time. Thankfully, the conference leaders have released me with their blessing and I will remain at home with Michal Ann.
My Feet Are Beautiful!
Just to kind of give you an idea of where Michal Ann is right now, let me tell you a story that happened Monday morning. We were sitting in the kitchen at the breakfast table and I noticed that Michal Ann's feet and legs had turned very dark reddish and almost purple in color over the night and I was a bit shocked at this. Off the cuff, I made the statement, “Oh my, look how dark your feet are this morning!” (We have learned over time that this darkening can be a sign of her liver not functioning properly.)
She had no hesitation in her response to me. She had a targeted look in her eyes and declared with some “umph” right back to me, “My feet are beautiful!” Well, I guess she put in my place and she was truly in hers – fighting in the Spirit with a confession of the condition of her feet, as she sees them.
I told the oncologist (a catholic doctor by faith) that she is a modern day Joan of Arc. It gives him and I a place of connection, and he understands and agrees with what I am saying. I am fighting for her and with her, I am not quitting and as long as she says she wants to fight. She is one fierce warrior! But if at some point along the journey she says she is too tired of the fight - then I will also agree with her inner heart and align with her desires.
The Lord’s Voice in My Life
The only things the Lord tells me about my darling wife is, “Son she was mine before she was ever yours.” Ha! He takes claim to her! He likes her – and I agree with Him. He really does know how to pick the best!
Okay - on we go, Fighting until!
