This week we will center on both Crisis Intercession and Revival in the Church. We want to accomplish this by joining our prayers this week to an international Day of Prayer for Burma (Myanmar). This oppressed and impoverished nations in Southeast Asia was once called the "Emerald of the Orient". Now it is part of the Golden Triangle. This area has been called one of the largest and most extensive opium-producing areas (opium through a process is converted into heroin) in Asia and in the world since the 1950s, and more recently you may have seen reports of the governmental oppression taking place in the nation.

I encourage you not to allow this “prayer assignment” be for one nation, for one day, but focused and purposed prayer for the persecuted and oppressed church in countries around the world. As we focus on Burma, perhaps the Holy Spirit will land on you to intercede as well for the Sudan or another nation or people group.

As we look to join in this international Day of Prayer, I want to take this opportunity to introduce you to Marcus and Alyxius Young, founders of Divine Inheritance. Thanks for your ongoing prayers for Michal Ann. She completed her second round of chemo this last week. The doctor was very pleased with the results of her blood tests as her cancer markers came down 25%. Praise the Lord! Keep praying!

In 1813, Adoniram Judson, the first evangelical missionary ever sent from America, arrived on the golden shores of Burma. Burma ( Myanmar) has thus become one of the longest standing “mission projects” in evangelical history. Once known as the "Emerald of the Orient," Burma is now one of the most impoverished nations in the earth. For the last 50 years, Burma has endured extreme social, political and spiritual oppression at the hand of a socialist military dictatorship. Join with us in global prayer on March 9th to cry out for God's justice and mercy in this country. Prayer points below…

Divine Inheritance (http://www.divineinheritance.com/) has a 120-year history in the region. William Marcus Young, a missionary who arrived in Burma about 70 years after Judson, was a man of prayer who pioneered a 10,000 square-mile mission field in the remote jungles of Burma. (The original missionary story is written up in the historic book Eternity in Their Hearts by Don Richardson.)

Four generations later, Marcus and Alyxius Young, servant leaders following in the footsteps of Marcus’s great-grandfather, founded Divine Inheritance. DI exists to bring about regional change in Southeast Asia through rescuing child soldiers from drug and ethnic armies. DI is driven by the conviction that children are the spearhead of the global missions movement and operates with the Kingdom understanding that we have the greatest impact when we touch the least.

This Sunday, March 9th, 2008 is a Global Day of Prayer for Burma. Let us mount the walls of intercession for a great youth awakening amongst the children of Burma. Let us intercede for a nationwide revival to break forth. Let us cry out for the persecuted church in Southeast Asia. Let us pray for a breakthrough anointing to come in the midst of the current crisis in the beautiful land of Burma. Though the “official” day of Prayer is March 9th, we will use this as our focus for the entire week. The following are some prayer points prepared by Marcus Young for us.

Crisis Intercession to Bring Healing to Burma:

• Pray for an end to human trafficking for sexual and labor exploitation of men and women, adults and children.
  
• Pray that traffickers encounter the Creator of all human life and that they would refuse to participate in human exploitation. Women and girls in Burma are often trafficked to countries for sexual exploitation while men and boys are trafficked for slave labor.
  
• Pray for an end to the drug trade. Burma is responsible for most of the amphetamines and a significant amount of the opium on the world's black markets. Drug addiction and drug-related violence robs the lives and livelihoods of many people.
  
• Pray for those who face pandemics of HIV/AIDS, TB, Hepatitis, Malaria, and other diseases.
  
• Pray for a revival of healing in the church and for increased access to medical assistance. As Burma has extremely high rates of infection and disease.
  
• Pray that the national, ethnic and drug armies in Burma would cease to use children as soldiers. There are more child soldiers in Burma than in any other country in the world—perhaps as many as 100,000. Pray that these children would be demobilized, that they would experience Papa God’s heart of love for them and become leaders of societal reformation.
  
• Pray that the ethnic cleansing and genocide of Burma's people would cease in Jesus Name!
  
• The Karen, a predominately Christian ethnic group, have been actively targeted for extinction by the national government for the last 50 years. Many Karen are refugees or internally displaced within Burma. Pray for their protection and an end to their bitter struggle.
  
• Pray for increased God-encounters for both military generals and Buddhist Monks!
  
• Burma is led by a military dictatorship and a militant Buddhist religion. Pray that government and religious leaders would discover the humble King Jesus.
  
• Pray for the strength of the church in Burma to stand for truth, justice and mercy in their society.
  
• Pray that God would raise up Spirit-filled leadership, men and women who are committed to Truth and cannot be swayed by cultures, cults and persecutions.
