Wow! It's been awhile since my last devotional. So sorry about the delay, but I feel like I've been on a whirlwind of activity and heavenly downloads in the past two months. Much is happening. We returned from our latest trip to Mozambique. You can read my trip report on our Encounters Network website. God showed up - big time! We have our Thailand trip quickly approaching - May 28 through June 12. The Lord is definitely on the move! It is time to act!

Devotional – “Rain!"

Scripture - Hosea 10:12

"Sow for yourselves righteousness;
Reap mercy;
Break up your fallow ground,
For it is time to seek the LORD,
Till He comes and rains righteousness on you."
NKJV

Our time in Mozambique was so amazing! The Lord showed Himself so strong on our behalf. I'd open my Bible, and there would be a scripture, laying wide open before me. It wasn't hard to figure out how or what the Lord wanted us to do. This scripture out of Hosea is one of the main scriptures the Lord released to us to pray through.

The Lord had released some prophetic words to us before we left. Much dealt with calling forth rain, underground rivers, etc. We did not realize Mozambique was in the midst of one of the worst droughts in a 50 year time period until we arrived.

I found myself asking how we were to pray. I knew God had a specific assignment for us there. I opened my Bible that morning, and there was this scripture. "Sow for yourselves righteousness . . ." I knew that God's desire was more than just physical rain, although I knew physical rain carried with it the lives of thousands! We needed to go deeper. So we began to cry out for His righteousness to rain down. After all, we need Him, His presence, His righteousness more than anything physical.

We had gathered in the " Elijah Inn" to pray. I was reminded of Elijah going outside and putting his head down between his knees. He was taking the traditional position of birthing for that time and culture. Out of his "travailing" prayer, rain came forth on the earth. Now, I didn't know the experience level of most of our team, as we came from various states, and even countries. But we had prayed through Hosea 10:12, breaking up our own fallow ground, and calling for Mozambique to seek Him …until He would come! I knew we had to follow Elijah's example. So, we all went outside, crouched down on the ground, put our heads between our knees, and groaned and travailed for the rain to be released. That first day, it sprinkled 15 minutes. Hey, we were happy for anything, and we danced in the "sprinkles" as though it was fully raining. It was wonderful.

I want to tell you that every day following it rained. Every day it came down a little longer, a little harder, until the day we were scheduled to go on an outreach. Now, outreaches in Mozambique can take hours. Trucks drive out into remote areas, across roads that sometimes feel more like river beds or ditches. The truck beds are crammed with people to help with the outreach, so we really needed to have a break in the rain. We prayed that the Lord would not have it rain that day, at least not until we all got back to the base. Well, God is so good! That's exactly what happened. We traveled out to the village under a clear, star-studded sky! After we all got back to the base, it started raining, and continued raining well into the following day. I was able to catch a couple of rain segments on my digital camera. It was so beautiful!

This is a testimony to God's heart to answer prayer! He loves to answer prayer and especially loves it when we use the sword of the spirit, His Word, as the mighty weapon it is. He is all about performing signs and wonders and miracles. He is yearning for us to get out there and ask for big things according to His Word!

Remember, it is first in the natural and then in the spiritual. As the rain fell on the hard soil, may the rain of the Lord fall on the hard soil of our hearts, families and nations causing a glorious harvest for His name sake. It is raining . . . . . !

Prayer –

Dear Lord, we are coming to you today, in the name of Jesus, Your Son! We are asking for Your righteousness to rain down on us. We want to reap mercy! We call out into the hearts of our families and communities that "it is time to seek the Lord . . . . until He comes". We call out in the Spirit and we ask Holy Spirit for Your help. We ask for a spirit of Revelation and the power of prayer to be released on the behalf of those we love as we pray for them right now. Lord, let Your rain come down in every area of our lives! We call for Your Righteousness to rain down upon us, in Jesus' Name, Amen.  

Application–

This is a season to go after things in prayer. It is time to wage war on the enemy, and file a claim against the enemy who has been about stealing and robbing. Set aside specific times for prayer and ask the Lord for a fresh release of faith - a new level, a deeper level, more, more, more of Jesus! Ask big. The Lord is telling me that it is time to make Post-War Plans. The Lord wants to end your drought. He wants to send His rain! He wants to rain His righteousness on you!
