A WEEK OF TESTING ~ A NEW CORNER TO TURN
For a bit of review, one month ago I had a CT scan and it showed that the two remaining conjoined growths behind my stomach had grown. The growths had grown to twice their size with apparently some other new activity.
Instead of having the PET scan done locally, I decided to go proactive and attempt to get into the Cancer Treatment Center of America (CTCA). I felt I needed a fresh page to work from and build my own new history.
By a stroke of favor, I was accepted into the program in Zion, Illinois for testing and evaluation. So at the conclusion of our School of the Warfare of the Heart, I flew to Chicago on Sunday, June 14th and have been here at Zion all this week as an outpatient doing tests every day.
How Did Things Go at the Cancer Treatment Center of America?
I had a PET scan done on Monday evening and got the results the next day. It showed the cancer activity has spread considerably but on a scale from 1 – 30; I was still in the low range of 10 – 15. That is good news. But it did show that things were beginning to spread and some new “hot spots of activity” were showing up. This means it is not something to mess around with and it required further testing.
On Wednesday a.m. I then had a bone marrow biopsy. This is quite painful to do, but thank the Lord they knocked me out to do it this time. I was then pretty drugged and tired for the rest of the day and evening. On Thursday I then met with the doctor and various nurses and I received the good news that the cancer had not spread into my bones and that all my blood work turned out fine. This means that my white blood count is at a good level.
We then agreed to a plan of treatment that will require me to return to Zion, Illinois in the middle of August for about 10 days. Three days of treatment – followed by three days of rest – and then more treatments including a one-time treatment of something called Zevalin. It is a radioactive isotope that will invade the growths and destroy them.
What to Expect….
The energy required depends upon the individual. But I am planning to cancel all my international trips for the 8 week period surrounding the treatments, and will probably cancel most of my domestic ones during those 8 weeks as well. I will have to cancel trips to Bogotá, Columbia; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Pemba, Mozambique and possibly other trips to MO, PA, MD and maybe others as well. I must and will cooperate with the treament plan!
At around 4 weeks into the treatment, most people normally hit their bottom energy level and are quite tired and have to rest much of the time. After that – the body begins to rebuild itself. The cancer will have been defeated and the body begins to be restored. But it takes 8 weeks to do this.
The plan is that I will return to the CTCA the end of October for testing again to see what my levels are, etc. So it is really a 10-week ordeal! But I will beat this thing – I will get well!
This also means that we have reactivated our Mercy Medical Fund. Your prayers and financial assistance are desperately needed. We will probably need to raise funds to cover Encounters Network as a ministry for approximately a 3-month period of time (or more). So I have to actively step to the plate and I will need others once again to do it with me.
Do I Have a Word from the Lord?
A week ago while ministering in Phoenix, AZ, Julie Meyer told me that I had an appointment with Psalm 84. I told her that was interesting because it was Michal Ann’s favorite psalm and she wrote about it in the last chapter of her book A Call to the Secret Place.
Julie went on to say that there is a portion in the middle of the Psalm that says, they will pass through the valley of Baca (weeping), appear before the Lord in Zion and go from strength to strength (verses 6, 7). I was amazed at this. I have truly been going through the valley of weeping, but the Lord was promising to visit me with strength when I appeared before Him in Zion.
Well, I have been in Zion all this week (there are 4 CTCA's but I got sent to Zion, IL) and I will be back here again in August and again in October. I know God is in this and I will be restored and go from strength to strength!
Do you know what historically happened in Zion?
This week I visited the Zion Faith Homes founded by Martha Wing Robinson and Elder Brooks 100 years ago. (I wrote about them in my books The Lost Art of Practicing His Presence and Shifting Shadows of Spiritual Experiences). They lived “possessed by God” and loved the manifested presence of Jesus. The presence of God and weeping came upon me as I prayed there in that sacred living room.
Later that evening I prayed with my friend, Stephen Springer, from Madison, Wisconsin on the front steps of Alexander Dowie’s Shiloh House. We called forth that my bones would be fine – and they are! Dowie moved in a profound working of miracles in the late 1800’s and founded the city of Zion and the Apostolic Catholic Church here at the turn of the 20th century.
Miracles still happen and I am appearing before the Lord in ZION. Interesting enough, my flight from Nashville to Chicago was flight number 888 (triple new beginnings!) and the CTCA is located on Elisha Street!
Help is on the Way!
I will repeat what I stated in my last Health Update. My commitment to God remains unshakeable and my commitment to my family is at an all time high. My commitment to health and becoming completed healed will remain in a posture of a progressive, integrated approach of prayer, nutrition, treatment as required and any action the Holy Spirit inspires.
It has been a lonely battle at times. Sometimes is has been rather overwhelming for me. None of this is easy, walking this path without my dear wife. But I will not quit and together (you and I) will win a great battle for the Lord.
I ask you to please pray with me for healing. Some of you may even feel led of the Lord to add fasting to your prayers. Pray for the Lord to provide a hedge of protection around my family. Pray for this ministry to prosper and for the clear direction of the Lord. Ask the Lord for a miracle in Jesus name. Help is on the way! Some of that help might just come through people like you. Thank you to all of you who are battling with me in your prayers!
