Thanks for your prayers last week for a Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation to go forth throughout the earth. During our School of Prophetic Revelation we felt the impact of your prayers in our region for sure. May wisdom and deeper prophetic revelation continue to go forth around the world!

This week in PrayerStorm we want to focus on Crisis Intervention. Several weeks ago there was a devastating cyclone that hit Myanmar (Burma) and has had drastic impact on the people in that region. Each day thousands are dying due to lack of clean water, food, and shelter. However, our dear friends Marcus and Alyxius Young of Divine Inheritance (DI) have relational systems in place to make a powerful difference in this region. Marcus is a fourth generation missionary to Southeast Asia who has found great favor with governments and civil leaders. Let's storm the gates of heaven together and call forth mercy for this nation in its time of need. Now is the time to sow our prayers and finances!

This week I will be ministering in Abilene, TX; Chicago, IL and Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship. From there I will head straight to a two week family vacation during which we will be taking Michal Ann to the Florida Healing Outpouring. Thanks for all of your prayers on her behalf!

Recent News Release Regarding Cyclone Nargis in Burma:

Burmese officials released new numbers Tuesday that increased the death toll from last month's devastating cyclone to 84,500, in addition to almost 54,000 still missing.

Cyclone Nargis lashed Burma, also known as Myanmar, on May 2 and 3, cutting large swaths in the Irrawaddy River Delta and the area around Rangoon, the country's largest city.

The latest figures raise the official death toll by 6,800 from 77,700.

Aid agencies are still struggling to help an estimated 2.4 million people affected by the vicious storm, the worst in the country's recent history.

Foreign workers were initially barred from the delta region by the isolationist military regime. Citing lack of access and difficulty travelling to many remote areas, foreign officials have yet to produce their own estimates of the dead and missing.

Earlier estimates by foreign officials suggested the death toll could surge past 100,000.

Imagine if you had gone through the cyclone that hit Myanmar (Burma) during the very early hours of Saturday, May 3... if you lost your home and all your belongings... if you lost a person dear to you in the cyclone... your mother or father, or perhaps a child or spouse.  These are real life traumas that we can touch through prayer.
 
Situations of this magnitude are an amazing opportunity for us - for the Universal Church to help the Church in Burma be an effective answer where government and large relief organizations can do little to help. Let us, as God's people, rise to the occasion and dictate what history records, as heaven and earth watch our response to the suffering in Burma!  Let us intercede that mercy would triumph over judgment and instruct the nations about our good God.
 
Most of the world's governments have now washed their hands and turned away. Much of the aid that came in is being resold or used to feed the military as it launches fresh offenses against ethnic resistance groups. Global aid organizations and governments would prefer that we not know their attempts to help have been limited or disastrous.

But even as I write this, Divine Inheritance (www.DivineInheritance.com) has people on the ground effectively saving lives and trying to sort out the next steps forward.  Regardless of what international news media is saying, many locals are estimating that, because of continued resistance on the part of the Burmese regime toward outside influence (i.e., aid organizations), 10% of the Delta’s 6.7 million population is considered dead and another 10% may die in the cyclone's aftermath of famine and contaminated water. An estimated million-plus people have been made homeless. Meanwhile, aid that is trickling into Yangon is frequently being confiscated by the military. But, we can pray for the military government of Burma, that they will encounter God’s heart of love for them through his church, and the power of Jesus testimony.
 
According to interviews with some of the national leaders and pastors in on the ground, there are now upwards of 5,000 people dying every day in the Delta. Mud, infected waters, desperation and the stench of death mark this territory. The ruling "powers that be" are allowing the disaster to become genocide of hundreds of thousands. Those who are not dying are being forced to work in labor-intensive plantations or cleanup crews. Orphaned children are being collected to serve in the military or raised as monks.  For this destitute array of souls, we are their only audible CRY FOR HELP.
 
But we can cry out with deep compassion for the suffering. We can cover with prayers this network of agile grassroots organizations that have been working in Burma for over a decade and understand the issues on the ground. Through DI’s friendship network of over 135 pastors and leaders in Burma, goods can be maneuvered to those that are in dire need. Even now, relief is barely trickling in, but they are strategically positioned to help!
 
Currently, DI's network of pastors and leaders has successfully:

Sent in 15,000 lbs of Vitameal for food needs Sent in 100 rolls of plastic sheeting for shelter Sent in more than $100,000 USD for food, shelter, medicine Sent in more than $17,000 in communications equipment Restored two children's homes damaged by the storm Made personal contact with scores of destitute people in the delta region, bringing the message of Jesus' love and hope.

Please join us in praying for the precious survivors of Cyclone Nargis who have suffered so much. As we do, let us pray not only for physical provision to sustain the lives of those who have lost literally everything, but also for the life-giving Gospel of Christ to penetrate their hearts, providing comfort for this life and the life to come.

*Pray for stamina, spiritual encouragement and health for Gospel for Asia's 500 missionaries in Myanmar who are sharing the love of Jesus among the survivors. Pray that the Lord would use them in a powerful way as they reach out in His name to the thousands upon thousands left homeless and grieving over loved ones.

*Pray for the people worshipping in the 400 churches and 250 mission stations where these missionaries serve. Pray that God would provide for them and protect them, giving them good health amid the rampant threat of water-borne disease. Especially pray that they would show Christ's love to those around them.

*Pray that the Myanmar government will soon allow more outside aid into the country to help meet the desperate need of the people.

*Pray that these suffering men, women and children will be drawn to Jesus to receive comfort and His free gift of eternal life.
