On July 17th a team led by Leon Hoover will leave for Mozambique, Africa to deliver solar powered audio bibles to Iris Ministry’s pastors. The literacy rate in Mozambique in 2003 was estimated to only be 43%. This means that up to one half of the population can not read and/or write. This is a problem if you are a pastor that desires to read the Word of God. One of the ways to assist these pastors is to provide them with solar powered audio bibles that speak the Word in their language. We have a source in Tiberius, Israel that has just what these pastors are hungry for...Solar Powered Audio Bibles.

I am excited about EN & Compassion Acts being a part of spreading the good news over in Africa via the distribution of these wonderful solar powered bibles. I know that God is already making a difference in this impoverished nation and I want to be obedient to His call to minister to the poor and those in need just like the Word of God says. I want us to get in on what He is doing and share in what is near and dear to His heart.

Roland and Heidi Baker, who founded Iris Ministries, are at the forefront of a massive outpouring of the Holy Spirit in Mozambique and Southeastern Africa that has seen thousands come to Jesus, many of these coming from the Muslim provinces. They have over 6,000 churches that have been planted in Iris's network of churches. Iris is committed to the training of indigenous pastors when the Holy Spirit raises them up from His movement. Iris Ministries also has facilities for almost 2,000 homeless and abandoned children. They have thousands of children that have been adopted into their children's centers.

Below you will find a prayer itinerary for the team. Please pray over each point during your designated hour or simply pray through the trip as the Holy Spirit stirs your heart! And to your prayer time that a revival of the love of the Word of God (written and spoken) becomes stirred in the hearts of every man and women. A love for Him is the heart of revival!

Jesus is the Bread of Life

Three hundred pastors could nearly taste the bread as I shared John chapter 6 with them. "Is it good to get fresh bread every morning?" Heads nodded in agreement. "Do you get hungry if you have no bread?" More murmurs of agreement with some laughs at the obvious.

"Is Jesus the Bread of Life?" "Yes!," they all shouted back to me. "Has He come to feed you? Will His Word accomplish what the Father sent it to do?" "Yes!, Yes!" they cried out. "But how will you get more Bread? How will you learn more of His Word?" "He will provide! He will come to us!, " they called back. "Yes, I said, because He cares for you.... He is here. His Word is here, and... someone has sent you a gift!"

I opened the boxes, and pulled out the MegaVoice solar powered audio Bible. The smiles, laughs, whistles, and those wonderfully unique African trills filled the tent with praise as they understood there was a Bible for each pastor, that they did not have to read but it spoke to them in their own language the Word of God. Then the dancing and singing started. The pastors danced and sang and listened to their new Bibles with unbridled joy.

This was the response when we took our first batch of 1,000 solar powered audio Bibles into Mozambique in May of 2007. In just a few days, our team will depart to take another 1,000 of these Bibles into Mozambique. The following is a list of prayer points for the upcoming trip.

July 17, 2008

A small team of 4 will be departing USA to assist with delivery and disbursement of another 1,000 MegaVoice audio Bibles.

Pray for safe travel and physical, emotional, mental refreshment during the 20+ hour journey, for Marty and Renee Doyle, Marcus Rozier, and Leon Hoover

Pray hiddenness in Christ as we come and go; an increase in intimacy with Christ and a greater capacity to demonstrate his compassion in relevant ways, no matter in what culture we find ourselves.

July 19-20

Flying into Johannesburg, we will drive north of Nelspruit to stay with the couple who took in Surprise Sithole when he fled Mozambique as a young boy.

Pray for more room in our hearts and souls to absorb what this couple has to impart to us.

July 21-24, 2008

We travel overland with Surprise to the Iris Children's Center outside the capital of Mozambique. From there we will travel overland for 2 days from Maputo, north to central Mozambique. Along the way, we'll meet with several groups of pastors and leaders delivering MegaVoice Bibles as we go.

Pray for joy and anointing to increase the farther out we go.

July 25-28

We will reach Chimoio where we will join Tryphina Sithole for a Women on the Frontlines (bush) Conference. We expect about 2,000 women from surrounding villages to attend. Wow!

Pray for salvation, healing, and deliverance for these women, children, and men.

Pray for a release of HOPE in the hearts of these women as they hear how valuable they are as individuals.

Pray joy into us as the 3 of us and all the Iris leaders minister to the crowds each day. Marcus will be heading back early to prepare for Michal Ann's Women on the Frontlines conference in Harrisburg, PA.

Pray for the Kingdom to come in Chimoio as it is in Heaven!!!!

July 28-30

We begin our journey south and arrive in Johannesburg on the 29th. We arrive back in the USA July 30th.

Pray a covering over all we've accomplished, for the harvest to overtake the sowing we've done.

Pray hiddenness in Christ as we come and go; an increase in intimacy with Christ and a greater capacity to demonstrate his compassion in relevant ways, no matter in what culture we find ourselves.

Thanks for praying with us that the Lord will spread the hunger for His Word throughout Mozambique and the nations of the earth!
