Thanks for your prayers last week for the people of Burma! We continue to pray that God will break forth in powerful way upon that nation and region of the earth.

This week in PrayerStorm we want to focus on Crisis Intervention but in a future history place. This Friday, July 4th, we in America we will celebrate our Independance Day.

Independence Day is the national holiday of the United States of America commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

As my good friend Cindy Jacobs states below, the Lord has commanded all of us to pray for those in authority. Our desire is to see God's will be done and the kingdom of God to manifest itself upon the earth. The United States has a great responsiblity given to it to bless those in need. The next leader of the United States has a crucial impact upon this nation's ability to be the blessing God has called it to be in the world market and in the spiritual realm. The next Presidential election in the US is Tuesday, November 4th - but already the campaigns for these potential leaders are fully under way.

So in this time of celebration of our Freedom we ask that you join with us in praying for our next President and Vice President of the United States of America. We desire God's choice for this leader, and not man's. Pray that our next President will call out for Justice in the nations of the world and that God's people will awaken! May God bless America and may America bless Israel and all the natons of the earth with the goodness and grace given to it!

May our leaders reflect God's righteousness and justice!

PRAYER FOR THE UNITED STATES ELECTIONS

Dear Praying Friends,

The word of God commands us to pray for those in authority over us. (1 Timothy 2:1) With that in mind, we are asking people all across the world to pray with us in the United States as we ask God to choose the next President and Vice-President of the United States.

We have developed a prayer guide in preparation for the 2008 Presidential Election and request that this guide be used in intercessory prayer beginning the week of June 8th and then each week subsequently until the day of the election. This prayer action is being implemented through the United States Reformation Prayer Network (USRPN) headquartered out of Generals International.

The USRPN will have daily fasting and prayer, and beginning Sunday, June 8, we will have at least one state per week saturating the elections with fasting and prayer until the day of the election. We encourage you to participate in whatever corporate prayer initiatives will be taking place within your state during your state's assigned week. During the twenty-two weeks that remain until election day, there are three very significant weeks to make note of:

• August 24 - August 30: Democratic Convention, Colorado
• August 31 - September 6: Republican Convention, Minnesota
• November 2 - November 4: Week of the Election, National Call to Prayer. The actual day for the presidential election is Tuesday, November 4th, 2008.

Please use this prayer guide from week-to-week until the 2008 election day, and share it with as many people as possible. We are calling for prayer groups around the world to join with us in prayer during this critical time for the United States of America. The future of our nation is at stake. It's time to pray, it's time to repent, it's time to prepare!

2008 Election Weekly Scripture Prayer Guide

Day One

When the righteous are in authority the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29:2

Father God, we recognize today that you are neither a Republican nor a Democrat. We decree, Lord, that you are going to choose a leader as President of the United States who will be righteous and make the people rejoice. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day Two

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; Mercy and truth go before Your face. Psalm 89:14

Father God, we cry out for the marriage of righteousness and justice in the United States of America. Lord, we ask you to choose the right president and vice-president who will understand both the needs of the poor and the rights of the unborn to live. God, we ask that you choose the leaders who will not lean towards "righteousness without justice" nor "justice without righteousness". In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day Three

Then it shall be in that day, that I will call My servant, Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah; I will clothe him with your robe and strengthen him with your belt; I will commit your responsibility into his hand. He shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and of the house of Judah. The key of the house of David I will lay on his shoulder; so he shall open, and no one shall shut; and he shall shut, and no one shall open. I will fasten him as a peg in a secret place, and he will become a glorious throne to his father's house. Isaiah 22:20-22

Father God, we thank you that you are preparing leaders for the United States who will have your heart for this nation--leaders who are free from corruption and self-will, full of the spirit of wisdom and understanding in the knowledge of you, and who will lead this nation into opening the righteous and ancient gates for the land. Lord, we cry out that the United States will be city set on a hill that will be a righteous beacon of light to the nations of the earth. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day Four

Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm. So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful; nor was there any error of fault found in him. Daniel 6:3-4

Father God we cry out to you to bring us leaders over this nation who will have an excellent spirit like Daniel. We ask that our next president and vice-president will be faithful to you, first, God, and then be found without compromise or corruption--leaders who care about your opinion more than any other. Lord, give us a Daniel for our next president! In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day Five

Then He showed me: Behold the Lord stood on a wall made with a plumb line, with a plumb line in His hand. Amos 7:7

Father God, set a plumb line of your word against those running for president and vice-president. Lord God, I pray that your infallible scripture will be that which this nation is measured by from the White House down. Lord God, put your leader in the highest offices of this nation who believe that you are the way, the truth, and the life. We cry out for heart adjustments in any way for those you have ordained to be the heads of this nation so that they will measure up to the rule of God. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day Six

But the court shall be seated and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and destroy it forever. Then the kingdom and dominion and the greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him. Daniel 7:25-26

Father God, we pray that you, the righteous judge of the universe, will set into the highest offices of this land those who will appoint judges who adjudicate after your heart--men and women with a heart for the unborn and the rule of law. We cry out, "Let your kingdom come and your will be done on earth as it is in heaven!" Lord, take away any authority from those you have not chosen, and exalt those into offices that are ordained from you. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Day Seven

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government there will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever, The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. Isaiah 9:6-7

Father God, we thank you that you will put one into office who believes that you are the governor of the nations. Lord, put the government of the United States upon your shoulder. Bring a supreme commander into office that will protect the nation yet release the anointing of the Prince of Peace. Increase your governmental law and authority in this nation because we know that righteousness exalts a nation. In Jesus Name, Amen.
