From the Desk of James W. Goll

At this writing, we are in the middle of the Women on the Frontlines Extreme Conference in the Phoenix, AZ area. I am giving the closing Saturday night message at this momentous conference. Gwen Shaw, Beth Alves, Iverna Thompkins are all here plus Patricia King, Stacey Campbell, Heidi Baker and next generation leaders.  It is an historic joining of the generations here in Phoenix this week. It is indeed an honor to be here among these amazing global women pioneers for the sake of Christ.

I also want to remind you that in the month of January, you can get a FREE copy of our great book God Encounters from our online EN Resource Center with any purchase. That is a free $15 gift. If you already have a copy of the book, place an order and give the book as a gift to a friend. Bill Johnson wrote a brilliant foreword for the book. So take advantage of this great offer and tell others.

In this week’s communication, I am making a personal and transparent appeal to our readership for your ongoing support. My appeal is based out of the book of Nehemiah and a current word the Holy Spirit spoke personally to me. Also, please take time to view the short video clip (below) I just made for you on Rebuilding the Walls.

Know that your prayers and your financial support have allowed the Prayer Storm to grow, EN Media to get launched, Compassion Acts to continue, believers to be equipped, and leaders to be encouraged. Thanks for standing with us in 2009!  Please help us start 2010 off with a great new beginning.

In the Spirit of Prayer,

James W. Goll

REBUILDING THE WALLS

Then I said to them, “You see the bad situation we are in, that Jerusalem is desolate and its gates burned by fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem so that we will no longer be a reproach.” I told them how the hand of my God had been favorable to me and also about the king’s words which he had spoken to me. Then they said, “Let us arise and build.” So they put their hands to the good work.   Nehemiah 2: 17, 18 NASV

While the historical context of these scriptures refer to the times when the Jewish people were living in exile and the Lord raised up a leader named Nehemiah. He was a cupbearer to the King and found favor in his sight.  The King turns to Nehemiah and gives him permission to ask whatever is in his heart.  Nehemiah requests the honor of restoring the broken walls of Jerusalem and is empowered to move forward with his request. The scriptures above are Nehemiah’s word of appeal to the Jewish people to arise and rebuild the walls.  It was an invitation to in intercession, honor and servanthood and the glory of partnership and teamwork. The people responded by saying, “Let us arise and build.”

An Over View of Our Ministry

It has been and is an honor to represent you as an ambassador for Jesus Christ among the nations.  Together, Michal Ann and I ministered in over 40 nations of the earth with your help. Many of these trips were intercessory assignments, ministry to the poor, releasing God’s voice to leaders, supporting Israel and the Jewish people world wide and equipping believers from many diverse backgrounds.  What an adventure it has been!

Today Prayer Storm - the hour that changes the world – goes weekly into 74 nations. Our books are translated into 20 different languages giving inspiration and hope to hundreds. EN Alliance networks and encourages scores of ministry and marketplace leaders every year.  Compassion Acts continues to reach out to the First Nations people in the U. S. and will complete Dreamer’s Park this spring in Pemba, Mozambique.  EN Media has begun with over 30 free video downloads available on our EN web site. Together, we support missions and missionaries across the globe. We have hosted great conferences and taught numerous training classes. The list goes on and on.  Indeed, it has been and is and honor to be an ambassador for the Lord Jesus Christ.

An Overview of Our Financial Base

In 2005 through the fall of 2008, our EN Resource Center sales were the largest revenue stream for our ministry. We were growing at a rate of 40% increase each year. It was such a blessing. Our second largest revenue stream, in the past, was our donor base. We had scores of monthly sponsors. For years we had over 600 Network Prayer Warriors as Partners with EN.

Today, with the economic down turn and since the loss of my wife, we have had a drop in our Resource Sales by 2/3rds. We have lost 70% of our monthly donors. I just recently found out that we have lost around 400 of our personal Network Prayer Warriors.  Honorariums, of course, have been greatly down, because I have battled cancer myself and have just begun to do traveling ministry again.

We have a great Board of Directors, and we have the highest level of apostolic advisers and alignment. We pray and seek the Lord. We have and we will make any changes the Lord requires. Yes, we thank the Lord, I am healed of cancer. But the reality is that I am still not yet restored in full strength to carry a full load – physically and emotionally. I cannot return to the heavy load of traveling I have done in the past. We are cutting corners again and are in the process of evaluating what was essential in the past and what is not important for today.

Some people might have dropped out from supporting this ministry due to hardship in their own lives. Some might have cut back due to new direction they sense from the Lord.  Some might have lost heart with the passing of my dear wife Michal Ann. Some might have grown weary of the constant battle this ministry has faced and pondered – “they must be in sin – something must surely be wrong.” Some might not realize how important their monthly $50 gift really is. Believe me – it helps!

The Past Year of Mercy

This past summer I found out that I had a rapidly growing problem with the non-hodgkins lymphoma cancer that I had been dealing with for 8 years. I had to go immediately proactive and do everything possible to win the battle for my very life. The Lord gave me a dream and had me ask for 1,000 people who would give a one-time gift of $100 over a 10-week period. God spoke and the people responded. In fact, we had over 1,200 people who gave a one-time gift!

We were sustained as a ministry during this period of treatment and healing. I was enabled to take off 14 weeks from traveling ministry.  Praise the Lord! You know the rest of the story – on October 7, 2009, at the Cancer Treatment Center of America; I was given the Good News that I was healed. A shout of thanksgiving was heard around the world! But I have since found out that getting healed is one thing, and being fully restored  to full health is another.  I have not been able to keep all my meetings this winter and our product sales have not begun to rebound.

Where Do We Go From Here?

I am seeking the Lord. I am taking counsel. We are downsizing. But that is not enough. We still need people to come alongside and hold up our hands. I have sought the Lord, and He directed me to this set of scriptures in Nehemiah. It is time to rebuild our walls.  As in Nehemiah’s time, it took a team of people to pull the vision off.  They heard his cry and they responded by saying, “Let us arise and rebuild the walls.”

I am asking you to prayerfully consider my invitation to be a monthly contributor with Encounters Network. We do have a list of benefits for our monthly partners, but transparently, I don’t want to focus on that. I want to simply tell you that I need your help.  We need to rebuild the walls and foundation of EN. The Lord has made it a fruitful ministry. Perhaps you have a one-time gift. Perhaps many of you who partnered with us as one of those 1,000 one time givers, could make up a new contingency who hold up our hands for one year by contributing $30 a month – one dollar a day – to a prophetic and intercessory ministry as well as a compassion and mercy ministry – that needs your help.

Watch the short video I recently did. Pray. Give. Stand with us as we transition this ministry into the next phase. The best is yet to come. My goal is not huge expansion. My goal is to obey God and do His will – whatever that is – whatever it looks like – wherever that might take me. I desperately want to continue to be an effective intercessory missionary and release worldwide impact for Jesus Christ sake. Will you help me? >>Click Here<< to partner with Encounters Network.

Thanks for your prayerful consideration. Remember, together in Jesus, we make a great team.

In Christ,

James W. Goll

This message was captured at the Secret Place Gathering 2009 in Nashville, TN. Bob Mumford shares the message of Becoming a Father Pleaser! This message is a timely and needed teaching in this hour. John 8:35 - Now a slave does not remain in a household permanently (forever); the son [of the house] does remain forever.

The term Father-Pleaser should be understood in governmental context and, consequently, defined as: A person whose ultimate desire and purpose is to preserve and maximize the sense of Father’s manifest Presence and approval to walk in His favor at all times and under all circumstances. His Reward: In You, I am well-pleased!
