Revival in the Church!
History Making Sustained Prayer Movements...
To encourage us in our weekly times of prayer, let’s take a look at the power of some of the historic sustained prayer movements. As you read these short clips, let faith arise within you! Let’s prayer for the release of the spirit of grace so that this type sustained prayer, intercession, worship and praise would be released powerfully today in our very own lives – and in the church worldwide!
Therefore, our Prayer Alert this week is on Revival in the Church! But what we are going to do – together – across the globe – is ask for the greatest release of the spirit of prayer to fall on our own congregations, ministries and cities. Mount the walls of intercession with me and take your appointed place and call forth the greatest history making sustained Prayer Movement ever to be released so that Revival in the Church will come!
Tabernacle of David in Jerusalem – 1,000 BC
Under the leadership of King David, night and day worship and prayer continued for 33 years and continued into the next generation under King David’s son, Solomon. Both Kings financed full-time singers and musicians. The scriptures prophetically declare that there will be a restoration of David’s tabernacle which had fallen.
Bangor, Ireland in 555 A.D.
Sustained worship came about under the leadership of Comgall and Columbanus in Northern Ireland. Comgall was the founder and the senior abbot of the great Irish monastery at Bangor, who flourished in the sixth century. Columbanus was the disciple of Comgall and carried on his work at the abbot. Night and day worship with prayers continued for over 300 years with a missionary zeal that touched all of Europe.
Herrnhut, Saxony in 1727 with the Moravians
Under the leadership of Count Ludwig Von Zinzendorf, night and day intercession arose in a small community in what today is modern day East Germany. This prayer vigil continued for over 110 years resulting in a missionary zeal that touched the entire known world. Men and women, who later became known as the Moravians, took hourly intercession on a daily basis to “win for the Lamb the rewards of His suffering.”

Over the last 35 years, round the clock intercession with fasting has been inspired and led by David Yonggi Cho at Prayer Mountain, as a part of the Yoido Full Gospel Church. Mission’s work extending to all of Asia has been a highlight of this prayer movement. Prayer Mountain has facilities for 10,000 people where they can spend a prolonged period of time to fast and pray and to wait on God and to seek His will.
Sustained Prayer Movements Today
In this hour, God is restoring night and day worship and prayer in many cities and nations of the earth in His commitment to release a last day our pouring of His Spirit. These places and ministries include but are not limited to: Mike Bickle with the International House of Prayer in Kansas City, Missouri (with various other associated locations around the world); Tom Hess with the Jerusalem House of Prayer for All Nations in Jerusalem, Israel; Mahesh and Bonnie Chavda with the Watch of the Lord in Charlotte, North Carolina; C. Peter Wagner and team with the Global Apostolic Prayer Network based in Colorado Springs, Colorado; and the International Fellowship of Intercessors (such as IFA) with national expressions all around the globe.

That leads us to today. Yes, it is time for you and I to join together and make history. Right in your very own home. Right in your very own church, ministry and city. Let’s keep the fires burning continually on the altars of our hearts and may it NEVER go out! Let’s have a global PrayerStorm that will not stop until Jesus comes back to planet earth!
Let’s call forth the power of sustained prayer once again to produce Revival in the Church! Join me and thousands of others across the globe for such a time as this! Amen and Amen!
