James, myself and our Encounters Network Team have been so delighted to partner with you in 2005! What a blessings you are! As we turn the corner into 2006, we would love for you to come and join us for our Secret Place Gathering on Friday and Saturday January 6th and 7th and spilling over into Sunday, January 8th at the Nashville, TN Vineyard. Our friends Chris DuPré, Sharon Howarth and Michael and Mary Cadle will lead us into worship, joining James and myself in teaching. It will be a great time! Registration is still open and will be available on site!

I just returned home after doing a series of meetings in Syracuse, NY. I flew through a snow storm, which was beautiful to my eyes, being from Tennessee. I was chosen for the "random" security check both going and coming back - a real delight! But, aside from the delights of travel, people got set free this past weekend. Several people came up to me telling me of their situations and how the Lord has touched them. One woman told me of her experience with God in 2003 when I was ministering at this same church. She had been very sick, and had to be brought to the meetings. One night during my preaching she looked at me, and something was released from my eyes to hers. She was filled instantly with a prophetic word, got up and began prophesying. Shortly after that, she received a miracle in her body and was totally healed after a five year, serious health struggle. She looks back to that night, and attributes that split second release as the turning point in her fight.

Another woman had a dream Friday night about a little black and blue bird. She couldn't figure out what it could possibly mean. We prayerfully talked about the dream and the Lord unfolded to her that she was the little bird, and she was black and blue because she had been bruised. Time and space does not permit me to tell the entire story, but this dear woman received such a healing her life will be forever changed! A man came up for prayer during a time of prayer for healing. He had pain in his left heel. After I prayed a simple prayer over him and went on to pray for others, I noticed he was still standing there like he was waiting for me. I walked over to him and he told me, "I thought you'd like to know, the pain left my heel!" He had a big smile on his face, and walked out the door in freedom! Isn't Jesus awesome!

I wanted to pass on a few testimonies of this past weekend as a way of introducing the subject of this devotional. May you be blessed as you read.

Many Blessings!

Scripture - Isaiah 58:6-7

"[Rather] is not this the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every [enslaving] yoke? Is it not to divide your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house-when you see the naked, that you cover him, and that you hide not yourself from [the needs of] your own flesh and blood?"

Devotional – “It's Time for Compassion!"

Many things took place this past weekend as I spoke in Syracuse, NY. The Lord built messages line upon line that all had a definite destination. I taught about "The War Horse". This basically goes through the transition that we, as sheep, must go through to be transformed into "war horses" for God and His purposes. This involves turning from fear and having the "flight" mentality, to embracing the corral, or arena, where our Papa God loves us, mends us, and trains us.

Then we went to "The Secret Place", which teaches us that the corral is all about relationship - not performance! God is the center of the arena and He is waiting for us to come to Him. In order to do that we must lay down our pride, fear, and our will. In the Secret Place we learn that true freedom can only come by laying down our lives totally and completely.

These two messages are necessary building blocks for the release of the next message, "The Deborah Company". Deborah (a prophetess in the Bible) was a war horse for God whose strength was built out of her total abandonment and devotion to the Presence of God. She labored for the establishment of Biblical, honoring worship of the Lord God Almighty. The Deborah Company is incomplete without the Barak Company! They each need each other and both are consumed with the absolute necessity of having the Lord's Presence go with them. The only thing that matters is that we have the Lord with us! Neither cares about getting the glory for the victory - it is His!

The final message of the weekend was "The Call to Compassion". The call to compassion is the call to action! When Jesus was moved with compassion He did something! I don't know that Compassion is something that can be imparted. It is something that clicks on the inside of you and says, "Today, do not harden your hearts. If something is within your power to affect - there is a reason why you have that realm of power - it is to act!" "Am I going to walk on the other side of the road and look past this life, or am I going to engage and do what I can for this life?"

The word compassion, translated, means "bowels". Now, not too many people like to talk about "bowels"! But, we need to look at this important organ for just a moment. Think about it in the whole digestive system, the bowels are where the absorption of most of the nutrients actually takes place. We like the mouth where the digestion starts - that food tastes good! We like the feeling in our stomachs when we've eaten a good meal and we feel satisfied! But that's about as far as we want to go. When you eat a meal are you thinking how wonderful it will be when that food gets to your intestines and you get the nutritional benefit? I don't think so!

And yet when it comes to spiritual things we can't stop short of that last, all important final step in the digestive process! Even as food brings "movement" to our bowels, so true and complete digestion of spiritual food should bring us to "movement", to do something with the food we've been taking into our spirits!

As Christmas has just passed and the New Year has been rung in, this becomes a time when many of us make new resolutions and determine we are going to make strides forward. Well, I have a challenge for you today. Make one of biggest decisions you could ever make - to be more like Jesus! This means to take a new look at what "moved" Him, and let Him move in you! This means studying scriptures that talk about God's heart and what He values, what His righteousness looks like, what true justice looks like, and what makes God happy!

Now, this is a very important point and if you miss this you've missed the whole thing. God was moved with compassion when He saw there was only one way to restore fellowship with us by sending His Son to die for our sins. Jesus was moved with compassion for us because of His love for His Father. He was obedient with joy because of His Father's love. In the same way, we need to be moved to compassion out of the Father's love. Let God's love, His justice, and His righteousness, move you.

God's love leads us first as those needy, bleating sheep. Then as we get filled up and let His work in us have complete fulfillment, we learn to abide in the secret place. Out of the secret place we are challenged to become war horses for Him, carrying His compassion to the needy both near and far!

Have a wonderful time of Christmas celebration, and run into the New Year armed with the Love of God!

Many Blessings!

Michal Ann

"Don't stand shivering upon the bank; plunge in at once, and have it over with."

Prayer

Father, we come to You right now in the name of Jesus. Oh Lord, we cry out that we need You to enlighten our minds and hearts, to love as You love, to see as You see, to act as You act. Lord, teach us to value the poor, the needy, the alien and orphan as You do. Teach us what Your righteousness and justice look like. We ask for Your revelation light to shine into the depths of our beings, and may compassion truly spring forth out of our hearts.

Lord, for those who need help this holiday season we pray health, healing, deliverance, provision, and even prosperity for each one. Lord, we pray that You will set the lonely in families and that You will be their best friend. For those who don't know You, Lord, we pray that you will release revelation light into their hearts and that they will come to a saving knowledge of Your love for each one of them. Lord, grant us courage and strength to move out of our comfort zones and begin to invest Your love in the areas of favor You have released to us. Lord, we call for power to be released through our lives that the Kingdom of God may be established in this New Year to a level we've never experienced before. Fill us with Your power, Your strength, Your heart, and Your love.

In Jesus' Great Name, Amen.

Applications –

This section is for those who come to this season in a place of real need. For some, the holidays can be a very lonely, painful time. Needs abound everywhere, and it may have been difficult to read this devotional. Well, I hope to bring you some encouragement here.

Something else that happened during this time in Syracuse was a battle cry I felt the Lord giving His bride. The accuser of the brethren loves to batter us with all kinds of arguments, but I think one of His favorite ones begins with, "What makes you think . . . ." It goes something like this, "What makes you think God would give you a job?" "What makes you think God would heal you?" "What makes you think God would forgive you?" "What makes you think God would deliver you from addictions?"

During one of the last meetings, we were worshipping the Lord and I began hearing these taunting's of the enemy just railing against the people. But then I heard a declaration that silenced all those accusations. It was a simple, but profound declaration that boomed out into the atmosphere, "Because He loves me! Because He loves me! Because He loves me!" It came over and over again. I began declaring it out loud, over and over. I could feel power being released against the enemy, knocking out his insults and slams against these people! We went into a time of declaring that word over ourselves and a warrior anointing was released in our midst.

This is a “holiday gift” I want to give to you no matter what circumstance you may find yourself in. God loves you and that is the reason why He would do anything. That is all the reason you need to give - because His love did it all - for you, and He is here right now, for you, to fight for you, to deliver you, to heal you, to provide for you. Let Him love you right now, and ask Him to help you! It doesn't matter who you used to be, or even who you'd like to become. All that matters is where Jesus is in your life today - He is right here, right now, to make a difference in your life, to move with compassion on your behalf!

If you have been helped today through this devotional, consider printing out 5 copies to give to people who maybe don’t have e-mail capacity, perhaps to some of our elderly brothers and sisters in Christ.

Be blessed and encouraged this day!
