Welcome to the VisionCast for the Prophetic:

I Know a Way Out !

Featuring Tommy Tenney

Vision Cast January 2007

It is my pleasure to feature a man that I have known for many years. One of our first meetings took place in a restaurant as we shared Communion. I was moved by his heart to entertain the Presence of God and his desire to commune continually with his God.

As we began to make plans for our Secret Place Gathering ~ Addicted to His Presence on January 18th-20th, Tommy Tenney's name and face came before me as one who embodies this. He is truly addicted to the Presence of God. I am looking forward to hearing Tommy share from the Heart of the Father.

Tommy will be speaking on Friday night, which is open to the public as space allows and on Saturday morning, by registration only. You will not want to miss this opportunity to hear this God Chaser!!! Plan to come and be a part of The Secret Place Gathering ~ Addicted To His Presence 2007 in Nashville, TN.

Blessings and I look forward to seeing you there...

I know a way out!

Every week I see them—some in church services and auditoriums, and others in airports, restaurants, and even hotel elevators. They do their best to hide their pain (no one wants to bare their wounds in public), but their secret is out the moment their eyes connect with mine. I don’t claim to be a seer—I’m just a human and a man of God who knows what it is to hurt. The burden of seeing so many hurting, bruised and broken people in my weekly travels compels me to tell them, “I know a way out!”

You could probably share similar stories of your own, but my point is that our world is filled with hurting and desperate people. It makes you want to shout, Somebody should do something!

Somebody did.

And just when I think I can’t crawl onto another plane, preach another sermon, write another book, or take another problem phone call—my heart breaks all over again for the hurting and God’s love floods my life with new energy.

It was this burden for the broken that led me to write my newest book, The Ultimate Comeback. (I must confess that it probably will be of no interest to perfect people. But for the rest of us….)

Let me begin with a few words excerpted from the first chapter of The Ultimate Comeback:

If you are alive and breathing, then at one time or another you will suffer loss or face a crushing crisis. Loss is a part of life and it happens to all of us in some way or another. Unjustified loss is even harder to handle! What do you do when life feels unfair? How can you respond and hope for restoration when dreams and aspirations have been ripped from your grasp? Without getting into a lot of theology, let me assure you that bad news can knock on your door even when you are righteous before God. Let me give you just one name—Job. Bad news literally seemed to arrive so fast to Job that the messengers of doom had to wait in line at his door. Yet, through it all, Job handled himself in such a way that God praised and blessed him for it.

So, how do YOU survive on those days when bad news has to wait in line just to talk to you?

I mention in the same chapter of the book that, Sometimes, even after salvation has visited your life, frustration still binds you. And I mention that even after Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, and he appeared at the opening of the tomb, he may have been alive by clinical definition, but he wasn’t really living. He merely existed!

Do you remember where Jesus said, I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly? (John 10:10b, NKJV) Notice the comma: I have come that they may have lifeCOMMAand that they may have it more abundantly.

If you are living life before the comma—that’s mere existence. You find the abundant life on the other side of the comma. That’s the side where you escape the rags of mere existence loosed, unbound, set free and show up back in your living room visiting with the same family members who’d given you up for dead!

Now that is the God-kind of restoration. It is at that point that you realize that your past no longer holds your future hostage. (I’m especially blessed to see people “unwrapping” their friends with words of forgiveness and acts of acceptance. Blessed be the “Unwrappers!”)

If you feel as if you or a loved one has lingered far too long living “just one step ahead of the grave,” then Lazarus should be your hero, your “poster-boy”! My friend, if he can “come out” of the tomb, then surely you can “come back” from your failures! After all, you both have the same Friend and He still possesses the same Resurrection Power!

In the midst of that miraculous story, something very important happened, and it may be a key to your restoration or for the healing of someone you know. When Jesus spoke, Lazarus heard and made the first move to obey. Just imagine trying to sit up while wrapped tightly in gauze from head to toe. Can you see Lazarus roll and rock until he could get his bound feet to the rocky floor of his cold tomb? Would he make it in time before the Master left in disgust?

How many times did this reluctant mummy fall while trying to reach the rough-hewn entrance of his grave? But Lazarus purposed in his mind, “I’m coming out!” Are you ready to do the same?

Most of us have a deep respect for heroes precisely because they did not quit. In fact, we have less respect for people who easily win a battle or face a contest that seems too easy. That is why most of us are tempted to cheer for underdogs—even if their opponent happens to be our favorite sports team or sports figure.

We call people “heroes” because in some way they have managed to claw their way back from failure; they snatched victory out of the jaws of defeat. As I wrote in The Ultimate Comeback:

Tough times are the womb of heroes, and failure is often the womb of success. Even if their own mistakes precipitated their personal disaster, somehow they found a way to ‘come back,’ to initiate a magnificent ‘turn around!

Have you ever had to hold your chin up when the world was trying to press your head down? Have underdog and underachiever become fixtures in your self-description vocabulary? Welcome to the Adam Club. For all have sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God…. (Romans 3:23).

As I wrote in the final line of Chapter 2 in The Ultimate Comeback:
“I can give you a hint of hope: “I know a way out….”

Perhaps I should say it another way: “I know the Way out.”

Jesus said, “I am the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me (John 14:6).

Peter the apostle armed us with a promise strong enough to carry us through every “dark night of the soul.”

The Amplified Bible puts it this way:

Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you, casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully (1 Peter 5:6-7, AMP).

Even during those moments when you feel abandoned and without, His presence is there! You may not understand your present circumstances; but be of good cheer.

God knows where You are!

I pray that this greatly compressed message* has encouraged you to trust God completely, even when understanding is lagging behind. He is always faithful. Most of the principles and nuggets in this newsletter were drawn from the wealth of material in The Ultimate Comeback, my latest book, which will be released January 2nd, 2007. But by a special agreement with our publishers, God Chasers are able to pre-order the book right now! This would be an excellent gift to give away for the holidays and by purchasing the book now, we will be able to send you the book in mid December. Order today and receive FREE Shipping!
