There usually comes a time in each of our lives when something happens that puts us totally over the edge in an area of our life, a desperate time. Sometimes it can knock us out totally. We cannot make it on our own. In this season it seems God is teaching us a new level of dependency not only on Himself but others. It is perhaps the most difficult and uncomfortable lesson that we come to in life. It is a lesson that is forged in the deepest valley, a valley that is the shadow of death itself. I know about places like that firsthand. Those experiences in my own life have forged both a profound relationship with God as well as a deep compassion for others.
I have known James Goll for many years. James is a man of integrity who loves God and loves people. He has tirelessly given himself to others for the sake of the Gospel. In the past few years he has had to walk through a valley that is deeper than most of us can even fathom. Now he is facing one by himself; Michal Ann has already graduated into the presence of the Lord. I do not believe that James’ time is up. However he cannot make it through this season by himself, he needs you and I. He gave of himself totally to see Michal Ann through her transition. And now I believe you and I must come along side James to see him through his. Even though I believe the end will be different, he can’t get through this time without you and I. He needs us not only spiritually and emotionally, but practically.
I became acquainted with James through a message he preached sometime in the 90’s that to me was totally revelatory. It changed an aspect of my belief system from that day on. It was a marker point for me. To this day I am eternally grateful to James for pressing through to the revelation and preaching that message concerning Genesis 28:12-17. To this day I have operated in a higher realm of spiritual awareness and expectation because of that message. James is a real man, with a real heart, who deeply cares about God and people. He has given of himself tirelessly, he has stood beside Michal Ann, he is now standing with his children alone, and he is standing and facing the greatest threat he has ever known, that of his own life.
It is our turn to stand with him. And I have chosen to stand with him not only spiritually and emotionally, but practically by financially helping him at this time. What an honor to be able to do that. I know the dire straits that he is in and now he needs you and I. So I invite you also to stand with James practically by contributing financially at least $100 to this 10 week period he is facing. This is also a test for you and I, a test of compassion. I appreciate and love James as a brother; and I choose to stand with him. And I invite you to do the same. Some of you may be in dire straits yourself. Give and it shall be given to you.
