This Vision Cast builds on the previous theme of Getting to Know the Holy Spirit. My desire is to bring grounding in the word of God as well as making it relevant today with contemporary stories and testimonies. I will continue in this line of teaching with a Vision Cast on Rediscovering the Gift of Tongues; so look for this soon.

I hope to see many of you at our School of Prophetic Intercession on May 4 and 5th in Franklin, TN held at New River Fellowship. This is one of my passions and a life message for me. Michal Ann and I will be joined by our dear friend Beth Alves with worship led by Chris McClarney and Julie True. It will be a great time! I love to hear the testimonies of God’s great works in times past. But what I love even more is to hear of Jesus great work today among His people through the power of the Holy Spirit! In the Jesus People era, there was a book written called The Late Great Planet Earth which depicted that satan was alive and well on planet earth.

But in this generation, epistles are being written on the hearts and lives of many people declaring, “The Holy Spirit is Alive and Well on Planet Earth!”

Yes, whether it is 7,000 new churches in the past few years being planted through Iris Ministries in Mozambique, or over 70 people being raised from the dead, or one million believers in an all night prayer meeting in Nigeria, or one church numbering over 700,000 in the nation of South Korea! One thing we know for sure is – The Holy is Alive and Well!

I) Jesus Declared Another Helper Would Come!

We are not alone! Jesus declared that He would send another Helper in His place! Toward the close of His earthly ministry, Jesus prepared His disciples for the very fact that, as a person, He was going to leave them, and that another person – the Holy Spirit – would then come to take His place among His disciples.

How awesome that is! We are not alone! Our Helper the Holy Spirit, our “paraclete”, the one called along side to help, is here! I want him to walk beside me! Don’t you?

Jesus emphasized the following truths concerning our relationship with the Holy Spirit:

A. The Holy Spirit is the Promise of the Father

Luke 24:45-49

Then He said to them, “Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And you are witnesses of these things. Behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

Acts 1:4

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me."

Wow! When you receive the gift of the Holy Spirit you are honoring the Father!

B. There was to be an exchange of Persons. First, Jesus was to leave; then, the Holy Spirit would come in His place.

John 14:15-18

If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever – the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.

Have you received the third person of the God head into your heart and life? If not, invite Him to come and take up residence within your heart. Ask Him to baptize you with His amazing presence and power!

 

II) The Holy Spirit is the Now

Presence Representative of the Godhead

In this age, the Holy Spirit is the resident, personal representative of the Godhead on earth. He takes up His residence among us, around us and in us! The Holy Spirit is our ever present Emmanuel – God with us!

In fact He wants to overtake each one of us, overwhelm us, saturate, marinate, pickle and fill us with His divine presence. You cannot get too much of the Holy Spirit!

At a renewal meeting, Michal Ann was having waves of the Holy Spirit come up on her. She felt like she could take no more – that she was filled to overflowing. He asked her if she could take more for Germany – she said, “Yes, Lord I can take more of you for Germany.” Another wave of His great presence then swept over her.

He proceeded to ask her if she had any room to take more for the peoples of various lands and nations. Each time another wave came and another room seemed to be filled. Each time she looked within she found that there was more room for more of the Holy Spirit.

She still thought she was finally so filled she could take no more. Then the Lord asked her if she could take more for her children. She did not even have to look to see if she had more room. She cried out, “Yes Lord, fill every room in your temple with your Holy Spirit!”

He wants to fill each of us. Do you have room for more?

The scriptures depict His dwelling place in two ways:

A. I Corinthians 3:16-17 refers to the collective temple – the Church – the body of Christ.

B. I Corinthians 6:19-20 then refers to the individual temple – the physical body of each believer.

Jesus is Lord over the church; the Holy Spirit is Lord in the church. Make Him Lord over your house by receiving more of Him!

 

III) The Main Purposes of the Holy Spirit

What is the main purpose of the Holy Spirit?

Now that we have received the dove of God, what is His purpose among us? What has He come to do?

John 14:18 refers to the coming of Jesus, at Pentecost, in the Person of the Holy Spirit. John 14:3 refers to the Second Coming of Jesus, in His own Person, at the close of the age.

Three main purposes for which the Holy Spirit came:

A. To complete the ministry of Christ (John 14:25; 16:12-13)

B. To form the corporate body of Christ

C. To prepare the bride of Christ

 

IV) The Ministry of the Holy Spirit

from the Resurrection of Jesus Onward

From resurrection of Jesus onward, all activity of God was always and only through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 6:4

Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Romans 8:10-11

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Acts 1:2

Until the day in which He was taken up, after He through the Holy Spirit had given commandments to the apostles whom He had chosen.

If Jesus needed the Holy Spirit’s help to do His work, then don’t you think that we need all the help we can get from the Holy Spirit as well? We can operate in the same miracles as Jesus by the present day activity of the present ministry of the Holy Spirit.

We need to be equally dependent upon the Holy Spirit for Christian living.

Romans 8:14-15

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”

Galatians 3:1

O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?

Wow! Let’s start in Him and finish well with Him! Let us not repeat the mistakes of the church of Galatia and go back to our own soulish ways. In Him we live and breathe and have our very being!

At the end of the age the person of the Holy Spirit works with the bride creating a great hunger for more of God. Together we cry out, Come, Lord Jesus!

Revelations 22:17

The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who wishes take the water of life without cost.

Not only is the present day work of the Holy Spirit, but also the ongoing and future work of God among His people is by the Holy Spirit!

A great crescendo of worship and intercession out of the bridal paradigm will saturate the global body of Christ. By the amazing work of the third person of the Holy Person, we will become so hungry for God that a worldwide cry will arise! Come! Yes, Come, Lord Jesus Christ!

So will it be at the end of the age! The activity and work of the gifts of the Holy Spirit will be so profuse that there will hardly be a controversy or dilemma in the body of Christ concerning His operations. There will be so much need for Him and so much undeniable work through Him that we will truly celebrate the Holy Spirit is alive and well on planet earth!
