Deliverance Made Easy
By James W. Goll

The Gospel of Deliverance
The Gospel of the Kingdom is a message of deliverance. It is a message of freedom and cleansing. As Kingdom people, we walk out of darkness and into liberty and light (see Psalm 139:23–24, NKJV).
- You and I, as Members of His Body Here on Earth, Carry on with the Same Purposes as He Did when He quoted Isaiah 61:1 in the synagogue at Nazareth:
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because He anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives,
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to set free those who are oppressed,
to proclaim the favorable year of the Lord.
Luke 4:18–19, NASB
- Jesus Came to Destroy the Works of the Devil. (See 1 John 3:8b, NIV.)
- Jesus, Anointed “With the Holy Spirit and with Power, . . . went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil” (Acts 10:38, NASB).
- By Healing People and Casting out Demons, Jesus was bringing in the Kingdom. He said, “If I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you” (Matthew 12:28, NASB).
Characteristics of Demons
As Kingdom people, we combat invisible powers of darkness that masquerade as ordinary earthly entanglements. “For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere” (Ephesians 6:12, AMP).
- Spirit Beings exhibit Various Personality Traits. These spirit beings may be largely invisible to our earthly eyes, but they are very real, inhabiting “borrowed” bodies.
- Elements of Personality. The powers of darkness exhibit various personality traits such as the following:
- Knowledge (See Mark 1:24.)
- Will, willfulness (See Matthew 12:43–45.)
- Emotion (See James 2:19.)
The Father’s Love
- The Power of Jesus Comes from the Love of the Father. Greater than any darkness is the light of our all-loving Father God, the One who sent His only Son Jesus. He is the One whose Spirit dwells in the heart of every believer, thus enabling each one of us to carry on the work that Jesus did. The Father’s love is enormously important in the ministry of deliverance and we need to create a culture based on the revelation of the loving fatherhood of God. Consider personally His love for you.
- The Father chose to create you. In fact, He had you in mind at the Creation.
(See Ephesians 1:22–12.)
- Although you may not know Him, He knows every detail about you.
(See Psalm 139:1.)
- He is the One who knit you together in your mother’s womb with amazing precision.
(See Psalm 139:13–14.]
- With perfect timing, He caused you to be born into your particular family, and He planned where you would grow up. (See Psalm 71:6; Acts 17:26.)
- Your “family resemblance” is remarkable. (See Genesis 1:27.)
- Because He is your true Father, He wants to lavish His love on you. (See 1 John 3:1.)
- He is not the distant and angry Father-God that people have misbelieved Him to be.
(See 1 John 4:16; John 8:41–44.)
- Both He and your brother Jesus love you with an everlasting, inexhaustible love, and they will never stop doing good to you. (See Jeremiah 31:3; John 17:26; Jeremiah 32:40.)
- Your Father is excited about His plans for your future, because He considers you His treasure. (See Jeremiah 29:11; Exodus 19:5.)
- He is whispering to you, “Seek Me with all your heart and you will find me; delight in Me and I will delight you by giving you the desires of your heart.” (See Deuteronomy 4:29; Psalm 37:4.)
- He welcomes you. Who would think that His thoughts toward you (toward just you, personally!) would be so numerous that nobody can count them? (See Psalm 139:17–18.)
- Hard as it is to believe, your Father actually rejoices over you—with singing! (See Zephaniah 3:17.)
- Your Father is your greatest cheerleader. He can supply you with encouragement, vigor and confidence every day of your life. (See 2 Thessalonians 2:16–17.)
- He wants you to know that when you are brokenhearted, He will pick you up like an injured, weak lamb. He will carry you close to His heart. (See Psalm 34:18; Isaiah 40:11.)
- His love is unquenchable, and His affection is directed toward you! (See Psalm 103:17.)
- Know the One You Belong To. When you come into a true revelation of the Father’s love for you, you will rise to a new level of freedom. The hooks of rejection and fear will be removed from your life, and you will be able to move beyond mere techniques and information. That is when deliverance will become easy. After all, as Jesus said, “my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:30, KJV). He carries you. He takes care of everything. Correct deliverance procedures and awe-inspiring worship are always helpful, but the most important thing is knowing the One you belong to.
How to Get Delivered – Firming up Your Freedom
- Repent. The biblical message of repentance precedes and paves the way for the ministry of healing and deliverance. (See Mark 6:12–13.)
- Confess, disclose and forsake all sins of commission (actually committed) and omission (neglected). (See Acts 19:18; Proverbs 28:13).
- Forgive. Once again, forgive anybody who has harmed you (see Matthew 18:34–35).
- Make restitution; seek reconciliation.
- Pay back anyone you have defrauded (see Luke 19:7–10).
- Destroy any object, occult or otherwise, that would lure you away from Him (see Acts 19:19).
- Ask for forgiveness and make peace (see Matthew 5:23–25).
- Humble yourself. (See James 4:6, 10.)
- Submit to God.
- Submit to God your Father as never before, making His Son Jesus the Lord of all
(see Matthew 8:9).
- Your submission will be reflected in your attitude toward delegated authority
(see 1 Peter 5:5–6).
- Commit to walk in the light with fellow children of God, helping each other stay in the light
(see Ephesians 5:8–14; John 3:19–21; 1 John 1:5–9).
- Call on Jesus, and you shall be delivered (see Joel 2:32).
- Identify and Close your “Doors.” As you secure your stance as the beloved of the Father, you can check the “four doors,” as an approach to freedom. You can make sure that these “doors” are closed before you assume that you are walking in the light. These doors are access points for darkness:
- Sexual sin and soul ties
- Anger and unforgiveness
- Fear and control
- Occult or false religion
As four key areas of sin, they must be closed (through repentance, forgiveness, etc.) to shut out both demonic influences and the consequences of the sin in a person’s life.
- Believe and Cast it Out. By calling forth Jesus and the Holy Spirit, God’s Presence will flush demonic beings out.
Weapons During Deliverance
Again as a review, do not forget to use your spiritual weaponry, which includes the following:
- The High Praises of God (See Psalm 149:1, 5–9.)
- The Blood of Jesus (See Revelation 12:11.)
- The Name of Jesus (See Mark 16:17.)
- Pronouncing forgiveness on behalf of others (See John 20:21–23.)
- Resting in God. (Patience starves out the devil.) (See Isaiah 26:3.)
Common Blocks in Deliverance
If deliverance does not seem to be “easy,” as promised in the title of this lesson, review the following common potential blocks:
- Unforgiveness. Forgiveness is the prerequisite to freedom (see Matthew 18:21–35). Even a little unforgiveness in your heart will cloud your vision and interfere with your freedom.
- Soul Ties or Emotional Dependency. Soul ties provide a form of nurture and security that can dull your dependency upon God. Ask the Lord to show you any soul ties that may be getting in the way, and then break them off in Jesus’ name. When you have a soul tie, you can expect to find several of the following characteristics in your daily life:
- Jealousy, possessiveness, exclusivity. Viewing other people as a threat to a relationship.
- Irrational anger or depression when the other person withdraws slightly.
- Loss of interest in other friendships.
- Preoccupation with the other person’s appearance, personality problems and interest.
- Inability to see the other person’s faults realistically.
- Possible romantic and sexual feelings that lead to fantasizing and inappropriate expressions of affection.
- Stagnation and limitation on personal growth.
- Selfish lack of desire to see the other person reach his or her full potential in God.
- Inability to allow God to meet your need for love and security.
- Unconfessed Sin. (See 1 Corinthians 6:15–20.) Confessing sin implies walking in the light of the Father’s love rather than hiding in the shadows of fear and rejection
How to Keep Deliverance
- Walk in the Light with Other Believers. Walking in the light of the Father’s love makes it possible for you to move in the opposite spirit of the fears and other bondages that may have blocked you from deliverance (see 1 John 1:5–7). His perfect love casts out fear (see 1 John 4:18). His love opens the way to countless blessings.
- Stay in the Word of God. (See John 8:31–32; Psalm 119:9; John 15:3.)
- Pray regularly. (See 1 Thessalonians 5:17; 1 Timothy 2:8; Matthew 26:41; Luke 21:34–36.)
- Keep Short Accounts with God and Others. (See Matthew 5:25; Ephesians 4:26–27.)
- Walk in Love. (See Romans 13:8–9; 1 Corinthians 13:4–8.)
- Walk in the Spirit. (See Galatians 5:16.)
- Keep Jesus Central. Follow Jesus. (See Luke 9:23; 2 Corinthians 5:9; 11:2–3; Hebrews 12:2.)
Hope this outline is helpful. For more on this subject see my book and study guide Deliverance from Darkness and the associated CD and DVD sets.

Click to Play: Jesus Overcoming Demons – By James W. Goll
This stand alone message by James W. Goll comes from the first chapter and lesson of the Deliverance from Darkness Book and Study Guide. one quarter of Jesus public ministry as recorded in the four Gospels was dedicated to dealing with the powers of darkness. If we are going to be effective ourselves, then we must learn to battle the way that Jesus did. He has transferred His power to His disciples but we must apply it. Remember, the power of the blessing is greater than the power of the curse! Arise and defeat the enemy as Jesus did.

International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted -
Millions Rally for Persecuted Christians
By Ben Duff (November 2, 2011)
|
Although Sunday, November 13 is the designated 2011 International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, it will be held one week earlier, Sunday, November 6, in the UK and Ireland. The IDOP, which was first organized in 1996 by the World Evangelical Fellowship, has evolved into one of the largest worldwide prayer events in existence today. For the past 15 years, thousands of churches and organizations, as well as individuals and families, have participated in the tradition of setting aside one Sunday each November to spend time in intercessory prayer for the millions of Christians around the world who are persecuted, oppressed, and even martyred for their faith each year—and who, whenever asked, unfailingly place intercessory prayer at the top of their list of needs.
On a general scale, Christian persecution has become a humanitarian crisis of unprecedented proportions. According to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, persecution has become especially prevalent in countries like India and Iraq, while countries of particular concern that have been known for consistent religious and human rights violations include North Korea, China, and Sudan.
But the United States government is not alone in its monitoring of the crisis. Many Christian ministries and nonprofit organizations have made it their mission to advocate and provide humanitarian support for those in the persecuted church, most of whom suffer a range of abuses from societal or even family ostracism, physical abuse, kidnapping, or false imprisonment on an almost daily basis.
One such organization is Christian Freedom International (CFI), a Michigan-based organization that works extensively in countries like Burma, Pakistan, and Egypt—all regions where Christian persecution is steadily on the rise. In addition to its humanitarian support of food, clothing, medical assistance and educational opportunities, CFI has been an outspoken advocate for the persecuted church, providing compelling testimony before Capitol Hill and promoting general awareness of persecution through online petition campaigns. Each year, CFI also actively encourages churches and individuals throughout the U.S. to remember the persecuted and participate in the IDOP.
Although Sunday, November 13 is the designated 2011 International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, it will be held one week earlier, Sunday, November 6, in the UK and Ireland.
