This past weekend, I had the honor of ministering at the Lampstand Conference in Seattle, Washington followed by the Sunday morning and evening services at Sonrise Chapel with Pastor Dan Hammer. This coming week, I will be at the annual HIM Prophetic Conference at the Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena, California. Sunday morning I will be in Hollywood at The Gathering Place with Pastor Rick Wright. See the display below for more information. I hope to see some of you there!

Through Compassion Acts, we are continuing our outreach in Haiti and adding relief work in Australia due to the recent extensive flooding in that nation. We are partnering with HIM Australia in these efforts.  We have our first Compassion Acts Conference – Light Belongs in the Darkness in San Antonio, Texas coming up May 19-21 with Patricia King, Doug Stringer and others. Watch for more details!

With these things in mind, this week in our Global Prayer Storm we are picking up the theme of Crisis Intervention.  As usual, adapt this theme to fit your city and nation. Other national crisis are looming in other nations. So let the Spirit lead you in your worship and prayer!  Thank you for joining with us this past week in praying for the “Sanctity of Life”.

Love Taking Action Through Compassion Acts

From the beginning of Compassion Acts, we have always believed in partnering with others to build the Kingdom of God.  Our goal is to come alongside others, lift up hands and encourage hearts.  Through the ministry of Compassion Acts, we want to add something to the efforts of others.  It’s not about us and building a name for ourselves, but instead it’s about partnering through relationship, with those who together want to build the Kingdom of God. 

One of the greatest examples of this is the partnering we have done during times of disaster.  During Hurricane Ike on the Texas Gulf Coast, we partnered with Somebody Cares America, led by Doug Stringer. They were established in the region, and had great favor.  Along with them, we were able to help provide over 21 million dollars worth of aid.  Working together, and recognizing our strengths and weaknesses allowed us to do much more for the Kingdom of God than we could do alone. It’s all about being synergistic.  I define synergy like this: “If we can come together, maintain unity in the midst of our diversity, then we can have a greater impact.”  That’s synergy.

There is a old saying I have heard for years that goes something like this, “It’s amazing how much can be done in life when no one cares who gets the credit.”  That’s what the Kingdom of God is all about.  It’s about all of us coming together, not just for our ministry or church, but to build the Kingdom of God together.

A great friend and mentor of mine, David Van Cronkite–the founder of Blood N Fire Atlanta, often says “If the Kingdom of God is anything, and it is everything, then it is relational, supernaturally relational.”  That is what Compassion Acts is all about.  We want to be in relationship with people all over the world that are interested in building the supernatural Kingdom of God and serving those who are in need.

In this update we are focusing on two of those kinds of relationships. One, is our partnership with Doug Stringer with Somebody Cares America, who we’ve been partnering with to bring aid to Haiti.  In fact, Doug will be one of our primary speakers at our Light Belongs in the Darkness Conference, on May 19-21 in San Antonio, TX. Together, we have already provided one portable water purification system! Clean water is an urgent need in Haiti.  We are in the process of raising money to provide another water purification system to help stop the spread of cholera.  They need our help! Another relational alignment we have as a ministry is with Harvest International Ministry with Che Ahn, based out of Pasadena, CA. James is on the Apostolic Team of HIM and helps Che and other apostles in the nations build renewal churches flowing in power and compassion. James has posted through Prayer Storm this week a report sent to us via Bruce Lindley of Australia. Devastating flooding has occurred in the nation of Australia and Queensland in particular – where a majority of the HIM churches are located. They need massive help in rebuilding. Therefore, we are also launching the Australian Emergency Relief Fund to respond to their hour of great need. Help us send gifts of love and care to them!

We are thankful for all of you that have helped us give hope, food and most of all, the Love of God to those hurting and in great need across the world.  It is our sincere privilege to partner with you, and with other ministries, to bring hope and encourage hearts in the name of Jesus.  Please pray about partnering with us as we continue our work in Haiti and Australia.

As you know, I spent two weeks ministering in Australia in November. Bruce was the man who set up my meetings and was my constant companion and assistant on that impacting trip. Please read the following, keep them in your prayers and assist in any way you can. So, I thought we would adopt the Crisis in Australia into our Global Prayer Storm this week.

Greetings to all in the name of Christ,

Things are grave here (more dead being found daily as the flood recedes) but God is good! HIM Australia members have risen to the challenge. We have already raised over $5000 so far and sent the money for food, clothing, and water to our HIM Church in Toowoomba. We are mobilizing volunteers and chaplains from Melbourne to come to Toowoomba and Brisbane for Critical Incident Counseling, and flood clean up. Over 9000 homes have been flooded, and there is no electricity or water to drink in addition to major sewage overflow. Over 900 people are in emergency accommodation in Ipswich (west of Brisbane and downstream from Toowoomba).

Over 200,000 people across Queensland have been affected. 70% of the state is flooded! The reconstruction will take years and will be of post war proportions! It truly is the time for the body of Christ to stand up! We are also believing that God will use this to cause people to humble themselves and turn to Him. The rain has come in the natural and we now are believing to see a flood of revival in the Spirit. Please ask our HIM family worldwide to pray for the people of southeast Queensland.  Posted below is a detailed report from one of our pastor’s.

Dear Friends,
 
The situation here is simply awful. Here on Bribie, we’re ok. We were cut off for a few days from everyone with minimal localized flooding, but that’s about all–twenty minutes from us was flooded. Brisbane City is under as we speak. I’m sure you’ve seen some of the footage from the flash floods in Toowoomba. It’s just unbelievable because Toowoomba is so far inland and so high up the mountains. No one thought it would ever be possible there. The problem is that the water then moved from Toowoomba down the ranges to the lower lying areas below. Whole towns were wiped out. I think the death toll is at 12 now with about 70 missing. It’s only as the waters recede that emergency crews can get in to see if there are more bodies. Thousands and thousands of homes are under in Brisbane and in Ipswich, our two big cities. The rivers have peaked and are now slowly receding. The water is moving further south.
 
The Following are a Few of our Crisis Intercession Points:

• The missing 70+ people – to locate them, dead or alive.
• People who watched others die in front of their eyes because they couldn’t get to them.
• People separated from families and loved ones because roads are under water, unsafe or destroyed.
• So many people who’ve lost everything but the clothes on their backs.
• Pastor and his wife lost their lives in Toowoomba–for their family and their church family.
• Sewage stations are flooded and raw sewage is going into the river.
• Some places are without fresh water and food.
• Our dams are overflowing and more rain and cyclones are predicted.
• Businesses, boats, pontoons, refrigerators, etc. are floating down the rivers hitting bridges and destroying things in their paths.
• Most people in Queensland do not have flood insurance because there’s a ridiculously high premium.
• Some looting is happening. Roads, buildings and businesses are damaged or destroyed.
• Rebuilding the infrastructure of a damaged State is widespread and not localized.
  
  

In all this, please pray for people to turn their eyes towards heaven and for God to meet with them. Please pray that the church will refrain from stupid statements, like “this was God’s judgment”, and that the church will declare and demonstrate the character of God. 

Pray that the church will rise to practical service. It’s the Australian way to help their neighbors and we’re seeing the best of the Aussie spirit rise. The church must be all that, and more. Thank you for your care. Our nation and state appreciate your prayers.
