Adventures in Compassion

It is hard to believe that another year has come and gone. God has been so gracious to us at Compassion Acts this year. We have been able to take the message of hope and love to thousands of people. This year has been full of opportunities to help those affected by disasters. In May, we were able to serve in Birmingham, Alabama and Joplin, Missouri after historic tornados devastated thousands of people’s lives and did millions of dollars of damage. It is in times like this that we get to go serve hurting communities in their time of greatest need. Compassion Acts, in partnership with other ministries, provided thousands of dollars worth of aid and leadership during these times. Our teams in May alone provided over 25,000 hot meals valued at $187,500. People like you, who want to help others in a time of need, make all of this possible.

In September, Compassion Acts was again involved in emergency response to the city of Bastrop, Texas where more than 1,600 homes were destroyed by raging wild fires that burned over 35,000 acres. Compassion Acts, under the leadership of Mark Roye, worked with local pastors, city, county and state government leaders to bring aid and assistance to those who lost so much. For five weeks, Compassion Acts helped bring supplies, organize work groups, and provided leadership in areas of procurement and logistics. This proved to be another great opportunity for people from around the country to show the love of God to others in need.

The Leadership Team of Compassion Acts wants to thank you for giving and praying for our efforts in helping others. Through your support we have been able to bring hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of aid. We feel like the little boy with the little lunch - we give what little we have and God blesses and multiplies it. As we come to the end of the year I would like to ask you to pray about your giving toward the efforts of Compassion Acts. Future Adventure – Dreamer’s Park Cambodia

I can't tell you how excited I am to inform you of our next Dreamer's Park project. When we finished the Dreamer's Park at the Iris base in Pemba, Mozambique, we thought it would be the only playground we would build. But after we finished the build in Pemba, people began to ask if we were going to build another one. After much prayer and thought, we believe the Lord is leading us to build another Dreamer's Park in Poipet, Cambodia on the base of Cambodian Hope Organization. Compassion Acts counts it a privilege to partner with Patricia King and XP Missions for this project.

XP Missions is actively involved in working with a ministry that has effectively been serving the needy located in Poipet. That ministry is called Cambodian Hope Organization. They have pioneered an organization that is empowering the local Cambodians spiritually, through education, creating business opportunities for them to provide for themselves. Education is a key to changing poverty. They have a school that is educating more than 120 children. This is the location where we will build a playground for the children. Many of these children have been rescued from the ever-growing sex trade in the region.

I will travel to Cambodia in January, to arrange the details of this trip. After my return, we will put together the itinerary and cost and begin receiving applications from people interested in going to be a part of the Dreamer's Park building team. We have set a tentative time frame of late May 2012. We want to invite you to pray about going with us. Blood 'N Fire – Christmas Bless A Child

We are so thankful for all of you that supported the efforts of blessing the children and families that we serve in San Antonio, Texas. This year, the need has been greater that it has ever been in the 12-year history of Blood 'N Fire. This past week we had three different expressions of the spirit of giving this Christmas season.

First, was our after school program Christmas party. more than sixty children enjoyed decorating Christmas cookies as well as receiving gifts that brought smiles to their faces. It was a great time for all! Our next event was the Christmas food giveaway held just this last Saturday. We were able to bless over fifty-five families with two large bags of groceries, blankets, and cleaning supplies. Each family was so thankful for the love and the food that was provided. After the food distribution, we were able to pack up all the gifts that had been provided through our "Christmas Bless a Child" program.

Weeks ago, each child was able to ask for a gift that they would like for Christmas. Each gift was bought, wrapped, and delivered to our children. For many of our families, this will be the only gift under the tree. We are so thankful for all you who partnered with us to share the love of Jesus at this time of the year when we celebrate His birth.

Compassionate Christmas

This week in our global Prayer Storm, we are going to pray into the Christmas season. Let’s ask that JESUS be the center of all our Christmas celebrations around the world. Let’s ask that the Holy Spirit anoints and blesses the many compassion outreaches from many churches and ministries around the world.

We will keep it simple this week and yet very targeted. We are going to pray for an effective Compassionate Christmas. Let Jesus be glorified and magnified in all we do and all we speak for such a time as this. Let’s pray for a Compassionate Christmas!
